UMAYAGANA FILES FOR DIVORCE

Application filed by Tele Actress Umayangana for divorce

Popular Tele drama actress Umayangana Wickremasignhe has filed papers for a divorce from her husband today at the District Courts Colombo. She had got married to a bank officer four years ago in the year 2008 following a love affair.
The bank officer is Udaya Kumar Pathiranage. The reasons given by her when the divorce papers were filed is that her husband does not look after her the manner a husband should look after his wife. He is always concerned about the money she earns and he leaves her alone angrily.
Before marriage she had been studying to become a pharmacist following her mother’s footsteps. She had abandoned her course when became a Tele drama actress. She became popular and to fame after she acted in the Tele-drama “Jeevithaya Lassanai”. When her wedding took place subsequently, the occasion was given wide publicity in the media. After her marriage she had kept away from her acting career and after a while she had emerged once more to her acting career.
The case was filed in the District Courts, Colombo bearing Number 843/12 DDV. She had filed action stating that her husband had deserted her angrily. She had confessed that when she was portraying roles in outstation locations her husband never cares to come and see to her interests. It was left to her father to come and see to her safety and interest.
She had quoted that her husband is only concerned in collecting her money she earns. She had also confessed that she never gets the love and compassion she requires from her husband. Although they are married for four long years they are still childless. In that context separation would not be a problem according to Umayangana. From the month of March this year the two had been living separately it is learnt reliably.
The divorce case filed by Umayangana is due to be heard shortly.
