MALEEKA SIRISENAGE’S FIRST LOVE

The latest bride/wife of Sanath Jayasuriya is Maleeka Sirisenalage. Many are very inquisitive to know who she is and details about her. There is a tremendous amount of enthusiasm among people to know details about the wedding and of Maleeka.
She is a resident of Dehiwala, 28 years old. She has had her education at Presbyterian Girl’s school, Dehiwala. After completing her education she had proceeded overseas to peruse higher education. She had abandoned her education half way when she joined the as an air hostess.
While in her Advanced level class she had got involved with boy.This love affair lasted 10 long years. Because of her then boy friend she got the opportunity to portray a role in the film ‘Super Six’. Her boy friend was a close friend of the producer of the film ‘Super six’, Sudesh Kumar. One year ago she had disclosed about all her facts to an interview she had given to the ‘Meevitha; tabloid edition of the newspaper ‘Divaina’ in the month of June in the year 2011. She had disclosed that her parents were aware of her love affair and there were no barriers for her from home.She were to marry in the year 2012.Although there were many proposals they were not taken into any consideration. However I got married to Sanath Jayasuriya in the year 2012.
Excerpts from that interview are appended BELOW:

MALEEKA HOW DID YOU BECOME AN AIR HOSTESS?
“ from my younger days I had one ambition. That was to become an Air Hostess. My dream was fulfilled”.

HOW DID YOU SUCEED IN YOUR WISH?
“ yes. When I went overseas for higher studies, half way through I felt bored as there I did not have anything to do during mu leisure. So I returned to Sri Lanka. Then during this period I applied to Emirates Airlines for a Post of Air hostess and was selected as I possessed their requirements”.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING AS AN AIR HOSTESS?
“ it is about seven years now. When we were with the President Mahinda Rajapaksa in Jordan we got the good news that our forces had won the ethnic war. We were all happy and elated. We took a flight to Sri Lanka almost immediately. The happy feeling we had we just cannot express. That particular flight we just cannot forget. As the President was also with us we were all very happy.”

THE LAYMAN DO NOT SPEAK MUCH GOOD ABOUT THE AIR HOSTESS PROFESSION.WHAT IS IT?
“Such stories are spoken and knit by those who could not get the opportunity to secure jobs as Air hostesses. I wish everyone to know to which country the Airline goes to, know their culture and know how to behave and look after one’s self and to become an Air hostess without any fear. For any young girl I recommend that the Air hostesses’ job is one who should be looked out for. It is a very good lucrative and a recognised profession”.

HOW DID YOU GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO ACT IN THE’ SUPER SIX’ FILM?
“ I got the opportunity through my boy friend. His best friend was the ‘producer’ of the film Sudesh kumar. When I went with to the location the producer asked whether I would like to portray a role in the film. I gave my consent to portray a role. As it was my maiden film I had nerves, However they disappeared as Roshan,Pabhoda,Sranga, Aruni, Hemal and many other helped and guided me. Until then I did not know anything about acting.”

AREN’T YOU GETTING INVITATIONS TO ACT?
“Yes I do get. But I am not prepared to accept the offers”

DON’T YOU LIKE TO MAKE ACTING A PROFESSION?
“It is difficult to accept invitations while been an Air hostess. If I give up my profession I may take up a career in acting’.

FOR YOU TO GET THE OPPORTUNITY OF BECOMING AN ACTRESS, DID YOUR LOOKS HELP YOU?
“I do not know. I cannot say how they gauged and saw me. The producer and the Director took decisions and selected me to portray the role. I do not know why”?.

MALEEKA, YOU  AS AN AIR HOSTESS HAS TO LOOK AFTER YOUR FIGURE?
“Obviously, the question of weight comes into the equation. The height is also essential. Whatever it is I am very particular about my weight as engage in sports. But I eat well.

SINCE YOU ARE ON TOUR TO MANY COUNTRIES ISN’T FOOD A PROBLEM?
“ Not necessarily. I try to maintain my figure by taking part in Net ball and Volleyball.
Hence I am not concerned about my weight.”

COULD YOU TELL WHAT TYPE OF A CHARACTER A SRI LANKAN GIRL SHOULD POSSESS?
“We like to be called Sri Lanka’s. However fabricated stories may spread. If you have not done anything wrong do not worry about any bad comments and rumours. Don’t be afraid if you are correct”.

FAMILY  DETAILS?
“ I have my Father, Mother and a elder Sister who is married”.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF LOVE?
“Love is very pleasing and beautiful. I have a boy friend to whom I would get married to. Our affair is now over 10 years old”.

DO YOUR HOME PEOPLE KNOW?
“Of course yes’

BUT YOU MAY BE GETTING MARRAIGE PROPOSALS?
“Yes, they just come but I will not give consent for those as I already is involved “
